I heard the maid at dawn
Singing from the sea
The mist had not yet gone,
And briny was the Lee.
A haunting melody she sang
To any that could hear,
Each note clear and truly rang
Yet filled me full of fear.
For hypnotising was her song
To lure you to the deep
And listening to it was then wrong,
Or your family would then weep.
For if you listen to her plea,
And join her down below,
You would drown in the sea,
So you must think "No." |
