Gaelic football is played in two teams of 15, with
a round ball
on a pitch between 140 and 160 yards long, and between 84
and 100 yards wide. At either end are posts like rugby posts,
but with a net. A goal, kicking the ball into the net, is
3 points, kicked over the bars scores 1 point.
The players can catch the ball and pass it with foot or fist,
but cannot throw it. The ball can be carried only four steps
without being released. It can be played on the foot or
fist any number of times, but must only be bounced on the
ground once unless it is touched on the foot between
each bounce. As in hurley there is no offside,
and the game is supervised by a referee,
two linesmen and four umpires.
